Frequently Asked Questions

Sometimes you just have a quick question that you want answered….I get that a lot!  Here are the top questions that I get asked…

How far in advance do I need to book my session?

I would suggest contacting me as soon as you think you want a session.  My Saturdays are the first to fill up and certain times of the year, they are booked up a few months in advance.  Holidays anyone??  :D   Weekdays are easier to accomodate, but it is still a good idea to call ahead…

Where do we do the session at?

I can do the session anywhere you would like.  Sometimes clients prefer the familiarity of their own house and surroundings, so we can do it at the home.  Sometimes the kids want to get some energy out, so we can go to a park.  We can do both!  I have some locations that work well, but just let me know if you have one in mind too, and we can see if we can work it out!

What time are your sessions at?

Being that I am a natural light photographer, I work around the sun.  Typically my sessions are at 9:30am and anywhere from 3:30-5:30 in the afternoon, depending on the time of year.

I read on your website about b&w and color differences, can you explain that to me?

Sure.  For indoor portraits, I do black and white photography only.  Sometimes there is a vintage look that is a subtle mixture of the two that we can do as well.  For outdoor portraits you are able to choose color along with the other two choices.

Do you take credit cards?

Absolutely.  I take Visa, Mastercard and American Express at this time.

Do you give a cd with the images on it?

I have a variety of collections available that offer anywhere from one digital image all the way to your whole session of images on cd.   Those collections start at $495.

What do I wear?

This has to be the most common question.

For maternity, I would suggest anything that is comfortable.  It does not have to look like everyone else on my website, or like what your friend wore or what celebrities have worn.  It is all about you, what do you feel comfortable in, what showcases that cute belly?

For newborns…less is more!  I do most of my newborn sessions with them in their birthday suits!  Sometimes just a diaper.  I know Aunt Margaret might have given them a handmade outfit that you want to showcase, and that is fine too!  Too many outfit changes will make the little ones grumpy though, so we try to keep it minimal..

For kids, anything goes!   A lot of mom’s pick out an outfit that they like and then let the child pick out something that they would want to wear.  I think that is perfect!   Think about the location of the session as well as where you are going to put the images when you think of outfits.   Jeans and a t-shirt are fun, can layer with button down shirts and hoodies for a lot of different looks.  Funky dresses with crazy tights are fun for girls too!  Have fun with it!

For families, this is a big one y’all…..pick one person and get them an outfit.  Then, plan everyone elses clothes around that one outfit.  So, say little Susie has a fun patterned dress.  Mom can have a solid dress in one of the colors, Dad can have a shirt in one of the colors, etc…  Nobody has to be matchy matchy, as long as you are all in the same color tone, that is perfect!

I have samples of things put together if you need help or suggestions, just let me know!
